1. 미국 호텔 현황
우선은 미국 호텔 실적 보겠습니다.
8/23~8/29일 호텔 실적-괄호 안은 전년 대비
-객실점유율(OCC, Occupancy): 48.2%(-27.7%)
-ADR(Average daily rate): $98.39(-23.2%)
-RevPAR(Revenue per available room): $47.38(-44.5%)

역시 시계열로 보겠습니다.
(비율 지수인 객실점유율의 전년 대비 비율 처리는 적응이 안되네요.)
지난달 중순 객실점유율 50%를 넘은 이후 다시 떨어져서 40% 후반대에서 정체되어 있는 모습입니다.
이는 그래프로 그려보면 확연히 드러나네요.
8월 중순 이후 정체 및 소폭 하락하는 모습을 보입니다.
현재 객실점유율 통계는 오픈한 호텔의 객실 수 대비 점유율인데요.
전체 호텔의 객실 수를 기반으로 객실점유율을 산출한 데이터가 있어서 소개해 드립니다.
TRI(Total Room Inventory)라는 전체 객실 수 대비 점유율을 나타낸 자료인데요.
위 그래프를 보시면 아시겠지만, 호텔 클래스가 낮을수록 일반 객실점유율과 TRI 기반 객실점유율이 큰 차이가 나지 않는 반면,
어퍼업스케일(Upper Upscale)이나 럭셔리 등급에서는 15% 이상 차이가 나고 있습니다.
그만큼 영업을 하지 않는 고급호텔이 많다는 뜻이겠지요.
이를 전세계 도시별로 보면, 아시아권에서는 큰 차이가 나지 않지만, 유럽과 남미에서는 큰 차이가 나는 것을 볼 수 있습니다.

2. 호텔 산업의 어려움
이처럼 호텔 산업의 회복세가 더뎌짐과 동시에 호텔산업의 어려움도 점점 커지고 있습니다.
이마케터의 자료를 보면 코로나로 인해 B2B산업에서 가장 큰 영향을 받는 업종으로 관광 및 숙박, 예술 쪽이 꼽혔습니다.

이러한 상황이다보니 미국숙박업협회(AHLA)에서는 정부의 추가적인 지원책이 없으면 9월까지 약 8,000개 이상의 호텔이 문을 닫을 것이라는 분석자료를 내놓기도 했습니다.

각종 호텔 체인들의 실적도 전년 대비 매우 좋지 않게 발표되었습니다.
국내 호텔 실적처럼 별도 포스팅을 할까하다가 정리하기 귀찮아서;;;
인터컨의 RevPAR가 전년 대비 75%하락할 것이라는 기사도 있었습니다.

미국에서는 전체 실업자 중 레저와 숙박산업의 고용자의 비율이 40% 이상이라는 보도도 나왔습니다.
코로납19이전에는 11% 수준이었다고 합니다.

3. 위생 강화 및 Contactless 서비스의 확대
코로나19의 확산세가 꺾이지 않으면서 해외에서도 위생을 강화하는 모양새입니다.
미국숙박업협회에서(AHLA)에서 코로나 시대에 맞는 새로운 서비스 기준을 발표했는데요.
여기에는 마스크 착용, 비대면 서비스 제공, 객실 청소 제한, 비대면 룸서비스, 코로나 관련 대응 체계 마련 등이 포함되어 있습니다.

마지막으로는 향후 여행 시 코로나19 예방 접종을 받았다는 사실을 여권에 표기하는 방안도 검토되고 있습니다.
이는 국제적인 공조가 필요한 부분인데요.
어떤 바이러스 형까지 예방접종을 인정할 것인지,
어느 시기에 맞아야 하는지,
어떻게 표기할 것인지 등등의 논의가 필요할 것으로 보입니다.
