오늘은 싱가포르(Singapore)입니다.
싱가포르 조사는 **CSISG(The Customer Satisfaction Index of Singapore)**라고 부릅니다.
싱가포르 경영 대학(Singapore Management University)에서 조사합니다.
역시 마찬가지로 우리나라, 미국, 일본이 동일한 모델을 사용합니다.
다음 포스팅에서는 이 네 나라의 결과를 종합해 보겠습니다.
CSISG 호텔 조사는 10개 호텔을 대상으로 이뤄집니다.
(10개 호텔 외 나머지 호텔은 Other Hotels에 포함됩니다.)
그리고 이 10개 호텔은 **8개의 5성급 이상 럭셔리 호텔(Luxury & Upscale Hotels)과 2개의 이코노미 호텔(Economy Hotels)**로 구분됩니다.
그리고 기존에는 외국인과 내국인을 대상으로 조사하다가 2016년 조사부터 외국인만을 대상으로 조사하는 것으로 변경되었습니다.
그래서 2016년 이전 점수를 최근과 비교하기는 어렵네요.
결과는 2017년 11월 29일 발표됐습니다.
여러 나라 중 가장 최근이죠.
자, 그럼 산업 전체 결과부터 보시죠.
산업 전체
호텔 산업 전체 점수는 2016년 72.5점에서 2017년 74.4점으로 1.9점이 올라갔네요.
고객들이 체감하는 품질이 개선된 점이 점수 상승의 큰 원인이라고 합니다.

2017년 12월 CNN 기사를 보면 싱가포르에 관광객들이 늘어나고 있다고 합니다.
그럼에도 불구하고 호텔 붐이 일어나 호텔 간 경쟁이 심화되고 있다고 하는데요.
이러한 경쟁으로 호텔들이 고객들에게 좀 더 나은 서비스를 제공하면서, 고객들이 체감하는 품질을 끌어올리지 않았나 싶네요.
아무튼 그런데 말입니다.
럭셔리 호텔과 이코노미 호텔의 고객들은 호텔의 품질에 만족감을 느끼는 포인트가 조금 달랐다고 합니다.
럭셔리 호텔이나 이코노미 호텔이나 호텔의 '공용구역 관리'와 '객실 분위기'가 호텔 품질에 만족감을 느끼는 가장 중요한 포인트로 나타난 건 동일했는데요.
럭셔리 호텔의 고객들은 '요청을 맞춰주는 능력', '체크인 과정의 효율성'을 그 다음으로 중요하게 생각했습니다.
즉, 호텔의 시설 관련 보다는 서비스를 더 중요시했다는 것이지요.
아무래도 비용을 더 지불했을테니 이런 결과가 나온 것이겠죠?
그럼 개별 호텔 순위를 살펴보겠습니다.
1위에서 8위까지가 다 럭셔리 호텔이네요.
1위 리츠칼튼 밀레니아 싱가포르(The Ritz-Carlton) - 75.1점
1위는 리츠칼튼 밀레니아 싱가포르입니다.
Summer Pavilion이 미슐랭 스타를 가지고 있구요.
2016년 말에 La Mer와 제휴해서 새로운 Ritz-Carlton Spa를 선보였습니다.
아시아 태평양 지역의 La Mer와 파트너 관계를 맺은 최초의 고급 호텔이죠.

2위 마리나 베이 샌즈(Marina Bay Sands) - 74.6점
2위는 마리나 베이 샌즈입니다.
루프탑 인피티니풀(Roof-Top Infinity Pool)이라고 쓰고 옥상수영장이라고 읽는(?ㅎ) 유명한 수영장이 있는 호텔이죠.
조사 대상 호텔 중 제일 비싼 편인데... 1위는 못했네요.
물론 지난 몇 년 동안 계속 1위였었습니다.
이러한 결과는 만족도에는 가성비도 중요하다는걸 보여주죠.
특히 마리나 베이에서 가장 유명한 옥상(스카이파크)은 그냥 올라가서 구경은 가능하죠.;;ㅎ
우리나라나 싱가포르나 모두 가장 비싼 호텔들이 1위를 못했네요.
우리나라는 롯데호텔이, 싱가포르는 리츠칼튼이 차지했습니다.

5위는 팬 퍼시픽입니다.
2012년에 리노베이션을 했었죠.
건물 안에 들어가면 아트리움(Atrium)이 천장까지 뻥 뚫려있는게 인상적입니다.
이 아트리움은 동남아에서 가장 높은 것으로 알고 있어요.
이는 아트리움형 호텔 유행의 선구자(혹은 성애자?ㅎㅎ) 존 포트만(John C. Portman Jr.)이 디자인했기 때문이겠죠.
존 포트만은 지난해죠? 2017년 12월 29일에 별세했습니다.
그가 싱가포르에 남긴 여러 호텔들은 다 아트리움 형식입니다.

샹그리라 호텔의 원조죠.
'샹그리라' 라는 이름은 티벳 불교의 샴발라(Shambhala)에서 따왔다고 하는데요.
정확히는 제임스 힐튼의 '잃어버린 지평선'이라는 책에 나옵니다.
티벳 불교랑 크게 상관은 없지요.
그래서 예전엔 잃어버린 지평선이 객실마다 있었다죠.
지금도 있으려나요.

우리나라에도 이런 비슷한 사례가 있습니다.
바로 롯데호텔입니다.
롯데가 샤롯데(샤르로테)에서 따왔다는 건 다들 아실텐데요.
(신격호 회장이 좋아해서라죠.)
샤롯데는 바로 '젊은 베르테르의 슬픔'의 여주인공(?)이죠.
그래서 롯데호텔 각 객실에는 '젊은 베르테르의 슬픔'이 최근까지 비치되어 있었습니다.
최근에는 없어진 것 같기도 합니다.
여튼 6위로 나타났습니다.

왜 이 정도만 조사하는지 모르겠습니다.
**만다린 오리엔탈(Mandarin Oriental)**도 있고,
