각 지역의 실적/수요에 대해 간단히 알아보겠습니다.
① 미국
미국의 실적은 지속적으로 회복세를 유지하고 있습니다.
코로나 이전 실적보다 높은 수준을 유지하고 있는
ADR(Average Daily Rate)과 RevPAR(Revenue per available room) 뿐만 아니라
객실점유율(OCC; Occupancy)도 상당히 많이 올라왔습니다.
미국여행협회(the U.S. Travel Association)에 따르면
2022년 미국의 여행 지출이 명목상 코로나 이전 수준에 도달했다는 보고서를 내놓았습니다.
여행에 대한 직접 지출이 1조 2천억 달러(약 1,550조원)라고 하네요.
인플레이션 고려하면 14% 감소한 수치라고는 합니다.

2023년 미국 여행 산업 규모가 코로나 이전을 사실상 회복할 것으로 전망했습니다.

바로 인플레이션인데요.
최근 인플레이션에 따른 호텔/여행 가격 상승이 수요를 둔화시키고 있다는 기사들이 점점 나오고 있습니다.
지난 4월초까지만 하더라도
항공료와 호텔 가격은 작년에 비해 높은 수준을 유지하고 있지만,
여행사의 데이터를 볼 때 여름 여행에 대한 수요가 식지 않고 있다는

유럽은 미국인들의 보복여행 수요의 수혜를 제대로 받고 있습니다.

미국인들의 유럽 여행이 크게 증가하면서
여름 유럽에서 휴가를 보내는 미국인의 수가 2022년 수치보다 55% 늘었습니다.

파리가 전년 대비 10%, 스톡홀름이 9%, 더블린이 8.5% 등 상승했습니다.

이 같은 일본 호텔들의 회복에는 우리나라 관광객들의 기여도 크게 작용했을 것으로 보입니다.
④ 출장 수요
출장 수요가 관광 수요 대비 낮은 회복세를 보이는 것을 익히 알려져 있는데요.
forwardkeys의 항공권 발권 데이터 분석에 따르면
23년 가을에 출장 여행이 관광 여행을 따라잡을 예정입니다.
올해 19년 대비 90% 이상까지 회복될 것이라고 합니다.
다만 위 분석에 대해서 저는 그렇게까지 회복이 될까 하는 의구심은 있습니다.
아무리 생각해도 동의하기는 어려운 분석이긴 합니다.
모건스탠리의 조사에 따르면
출장 여행의 지출이 상승할 것으로 예정되고 있습니다만
2019년 수준을 회복하지는 못하는 것으로 나타났기 때문입니다.

① 항공권 인플레이션
앞서 인플레이션이 여행을 둔화시킬 것이라는 전망을 알아봤는데요.
블룸버그에 따르면
항공권 가격은 당분간 하락하기 어렵다고 합니다.
환경(기후) 관련 규제로 인해 항공사들의 비용 증가하고 있기 때문이라고 합니다.
예를 들어 탄소 중립을 맞추기 위해 저탄소 고비용 연료를 사용하는 것 등이 항공권 가격에 반영되는 것이죠.

지속해서 전해드렸던 노동력 부족도 여전한데요.
Hospitality Asset Managers Association의 조사에 따르면
호텔 자산 관리자들은 은행 파산보다 노동력 부족이 더 문제라고 생각하고 있습니다.
호텔 자산 관리자들이 가장 우려하는 요인은 임금 인상(64.6%), 노동력 가용성(57.3%), 수요(52.4%) 순으로 나타났습니다.
6월에 발표된 미국숙박협회(AHLA; American Hotel and Lodging Association)에 따르면
미국 호텔의 82%가 직원 부족에 시달리는 중이라고 합니다.
이 수치는 올해 1월 수치(79%) 보다 증가했습니다.

23.1분기 미국 호텔의 건설 기준 파이프라인은 메리어트 > 힐튼 > 인터컨 순으로 나타났습니다.
세 체인이 전체 건설 파이프 라인의 68%를 차지했습니다.
브랜드 전환 파이프라인 기준으로는 힐튼 > 메리어트 > 인터컨 순이었습니다.
이 기준으로 세 체인은 31%를 점유했습니다.
신규 프로젝트 발표 기준 역시 힐튼 > 메리어트 > 인터컨 순이었습니다.
점유율은 60%엿습니다.

인도에서 열리는 크리켓 월드컵으로 인해 인도와 파키스탄의 호텔 가격이 급상승하고 있다고 합니다.
특히 인도와 파키스탄의 경기가 이뤄지는 10/15일 경 아메다바드(Ahmedabad)의 호텔 가격은 평소의 10배가 넘는다고 합니다.
10월에 개막하는데 벌써부터 난리인 모양입니다.
(그들에겐 축구 월드컵 같은 느낌이겠지요.)
