미국 관광 여행 사무소(National Travel & Tourism Office (NTTO))에 따르면
2019년 기준 중국인 관광객은 280만명으로 미국을 방문하는 전체 외국인 여행자의 4%에 불과했지만 지출에서는 13%를 차지했습니다.
즉 인당 지출액이 많다는 소리인데요.
개별 관광객 지출액을 보면 중국이 10,445달로로 영국(2,576달러)보다 4배 많았습니다.
하지만 2023년 중국인 관광객은 850,000명으로 연간 약 200억 달러 감소가 예상된다고 합니다.

중국 해외 여행의 회복이 더딘 주요 원인은 중국 내 국내 관광이 활성화 되었기 때문인데요.
레저 여행객들을 중심으로 지난 추석 연휴 기간 중 엄청 좋은 실적을 기록했습니다.
중국문화관광부에 따르면 9월 29일부터 8일간의 휴가 기간 동안 8억 2,600만 건의 여행과 약 1,030억 달러의 수익이 발생했는데요.
19년 대비 횟수는 4.1% 증가하고, 수입 1.5% 증가했다고 합니다.
그러나 이같이 좋은 실적에도 중국문화관광부의 기대에는 미치지 못했다는 기사가 나오고 있습니다.

조금씩 시들어가는 트렌드인것 같긴 하지만 ESG의 유행도 엄청난데요.
세계경제포럼(WEF)는 전세계 관광 산업에 대해 분석한 글을 내놓았는데요.
WEF에 따르면 관광산업이 세계 GDP에 미치는 영향은 약 7.6%라고 합니다.
WEF는 관광 산업의 탄소배출에 대한 자료도 내놓았는데요.
이동수단이 차지하는 비중이 49%롤 대다수를 차지했습니다.

호텔은 6% 수준이었습니다.
또한 환경 변화는 이미 여행에 영향을 미치고 있다고 하는데요.
관광 패턴이 변화하고 있다고 합니다.
휴가 일정을 조정하는 식으로요.
유럽여행위원회(ETC)에 따르면 22년 고온으로 인해 23년 6~11월 지중해를 방문할 계획이 있는 고객 10% 감소하고 대신 체코, 덴마크, 아일랜드, 불가리아로의 여행을 고려하고 있다고 합니다.
